Welcome to Scrap-Friendzy's "Get Your Game On" blog hop!! We are hoping you will have fun and receive some great scrappy inspiration!

You should have started the HOP on our Scrap-Friendzy Blog.

Our Blog Hop runs from now unil midnight (cst) February 5th. BUT, this is NOT just a regular Blog Hop. We're gonna throw in a little extra fun with a Touchdown Challenge in honor of Superbowl weekend!

So here's the deal: At every stop on the hop, you will be given a special "ingredient" from each DT Member.

Your Challenge is to take ANY 6 of the "ingredients" and complete any ONE project of your choice for a touchdown!!!!

When you score a touchdown, you will be entered into a drawing for our Blog Hop Grand Prize! If you're feeling confident and think you can make that extra point,...... just use 7 of the ingredients and your name will go into the drawing TWICE!!!!

I will have to admit that I am not a big football fan, but I do know that the commercials during the game are a BIG DEAL! LOL

So my ingredient is for you to use a slogan or words from a commercial on your page. You can use it for a TITLE as I did, or include it in your JOURNALING.

It doesn't have to be a Superbowl commercial, just any ad will do. And.....to make it even easier for you, I am listing some slogans that you can choose from if you don't know of any.

Aren't these some great slogans to use either for titles or journaling? So......... you can use one of these or find your own. If you choose this as one of your ingredients, please post what commercial the ad is from with your page.

HERE IS MY EXAMPLE :

Simply upload your project in the Gallery at SF and link it to the "Get Your Game on" blog hop thread in the forum to be eligible for the Grand Prize AND earn 25 bonus Friendz Pointz in the month of February just for playing in the game!!

I am excited to share with you some projects that I have created with our beautiful "Countdown To Spring" kit which went on sale today, April 1st. It is so full of beautiful "spring like" papers & fun embellishments!

“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.” Prov. 12 25 We would all be better off if we would just realize how important and life altering the words are that we speak to each other. By the words of our mouth we have the ability to either tear down or to build up a person.
Who do you remember and appreciate most in life? Isn't it the ones who build you up and encourage you?

Everyone needs encouragement! Everyone needs to be commended for what they do. Many families are so used to condemning and speaking rudely to one another that it has become a habit in their life. When there is constant criticism in a home it can have very devastating effects on the individuals involved. It will rob the home of peace and joy and fill it with hatred and rebellion.

Many times we find ourselves being much kinder and speaking nicer to other people than we do to the ones we supposedly love the most. Come on! We have all found ourselves doing that! It certainly should not be the case.

Let's keep a watch on this. Let's make a genuine effort to encourage and uplift our family members. It may take a little time, and they may not immediately be receptive if it is a big change for you, but keep at it and I believe that we will see more love and unity in our homes. It might even help someone who is depressed to find recovery! That's what the Word said.

Destiny

It is very important that we as parents, do all we can to instill a sense of destiny in our children. They face a lot of peer pressure, so they need to understand it is o.k. to be who they are, and that they do not have to be or do what everybody else is or does. Each of us are fearfully & wonderfully made, according to the Word of God. We are individuals, not copies! There is always more value placed on an original than a copy, right?

When our children feel secure in who they are, they will not try to be a copy of everyone else. They will take a stand and be different when they need to be. That doesn't mean that they have to be the kid that nobody wants to be around, but instead they can be the kid that others are wanting to be like!

Make your children feel as if they are special by the words you speak to them. Don't worry about “giving them the big head”, there will be plenty of people in their world that will try to tear them down. Encourage them to be who God has created them to be!

Let them know that they can become anything they want to become. Teach them that God will lead them to a great destiny and that there is not enough darkness in the world to put out the light God has placed in them!

Family Matters Article

I believe that God has a Divine destiny for each of us. One of our main jobs as parents is to train our children up in a way that they desire to fulfill God's will for their life. Understanding that God has a plan for them will give a child a sense of purpose. Statistics from philosophers have told us that life's most important question is, “Why am I here?”

Children need to feel that they are important to God, to you & to other people in their life. I recently read an article by Larry Fowler and this is what he says a sense of destiny will do for our children:

*A sense of destiny gives direction in the major decisions of life. The young person who believes God is calling him or her to serve Him will consider that when deciding what college to attend, who to marry, and what to do for a career.

*A sense of destiny gives meaning to life’s opportunities. If I believe God might use me to influence children as an elementary school teacher, I’ll seek opportunities that contribute to that direction.

*A sense of destiny provides strength in hard times. If I understand that God may need to knock off some rough corners in order to best use me, difficult times can be understood and endured.

As parents, we can help them to have a sense of destiny by teaching them that God has a plan for them individually, by teaching them to desire God's will for their life, and by encouraging them that they CAN do what God has called them to do.

Decisions, Decisions!!!

Everything in life begins with a decision! Our decisions are what determines our destiny. This is why it is very important for us to make the right ones. The main decision we need to make is to have God to be a part of our lives. God told Joshua, “Choose you this day whom you will serve.” We have that same choice to make everyday of our lives.

Will we allow God to be a part of our decisions? Will we make choices based on HIS Word rather than our own feelings and circumstances? Will we choose to seek Him even when things are not going our way?

If we choose to allow Him to be involved in our life, we can be assured that we are never alone! We can be assured that He will direct our steps and help us to make wise decisions in life.!We can be assured that no matter what others may do or say to hurt us that He is there for us! He will strengthen us and help us to be the spouses, parents, and Christians that we need to be.

I don't know about you but, I NEED God in my life everyday! Things happen to discourage me and hurt me but, I can know for sure that He has the answers for me to come out in victory! He is a good God and is wanting each of us to involve Him in our decisions.

37th Anniversary

July 28th, was our 37th wedding anniversary! I would like to take this time to thank my husband for being a Godly, loving man! He has been a wonderful father and husband and loves God and his family greatly.
We have had our share of problems through the years, but we have stuck it out and, are both so very thankful that we did. Without God in our lives, that might not have been the case. For many years, God has been our common bond. We have both desired to serve Him and be all that He desires for us to be. I
will have to say that God has definitely been the glue that has held us together. We have even gotten closer and stronger through the years.
The problems in relationships and families can very easily take over in our lives if we do not take them to God and ask for His help and strength.
Look at what Ephesians 4:2-3 says, “...Be patient with each other, making allowances for each other's faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together in peace.” (NLT) I also like how the Message Bible says it, “...be quick at mending fences.”
So, I have to say, we have had a few fences to mend along the way, but God is good, and we are looking forward to many more years of serving Him together. I pray the same for each of you!!

Here are pics from our girls trip ! Me, my mom, my sister-in-law, my niece & all my girls went for an overnight trip. We shopped, ate, went swimming,& went to Sweet & Sassy. The girls got their nails done, had their hair & makeup done & of course got to shop there. Gracie even got her ears pierced! (She had tried before but just couldn't go through with it)But I guess she got caught up in the moment & went for it!!

Diligence Article

In our adult Sunday School Class, I have been teaching on the subject of diligence. I think it is a very important subject. Diligence actually means, according to Webster; “Showing painstaking effort and application in whatever is undertaken”. Some other meanings of the word is to be; “persistent, constantly attentive, persevering, fervent & passionate”.

Of course, I have been talking mostly about how we need to be diligent in our walk with the Lord but, we also need to be diligent in our everyday life. The opposite of diligence is to be slothful or lazy. The Word of God actually has a lot to say about this kind of lifestyle, and our lifestyle says a lot about our character.

I think the lack of diligence is rampant in our society. How many times have you gone somewhere to shop or do business and the employees not only don't want to put forth any effort to help you, but they also act as if they are mad at the world because they had to work that day!

I believe diligence is needed in our own lives and also that it is important to teach our children diligence. Children will not “accidentally” grow up to be God fearing, productive adults. One of the ways we can train them in this is to teach them diligence. Teach them if they start something to finish it, teach them to work hard at what they desire and stick to it!

Don't allow yourself to feel as if you are being mean when you require them to do chores. You are actually doing them a favor. Statistics have shown that children who are allowed to participate in the upkeep of the household actually feel more secure and have a higher self esteem. I am not talking about requiring them to do everything you don't want to do around the house. I am talking about giving them a task, teaching them to stick with it until the job is completed and then reinforcing what they have done with praise. Anytime we complete a job or specific task it makes us feel good about ourselves. Remember; “Winners never quit and quitters never win!”

God wants to help us in every aspect of our lives. I am so thankful for the instructions and promises that are in the Word of God. There is absolutely not one problem that we can go through in life that God does not have an answer to!

He has answers for our family situations also! Marriage and family was His idea in the beginning, so don't you think He would tell us how to have the best marriages and the happiest families?

The problem is that most people don't look to the Word of God for their help and answers, even those who are Christians. If we studied the statistics I think we would find that the divorce rate among Christians is not too far behind those in the secular world. Why is this so? Because many times even the Christian people do not go to God for help in their relationships. They live their lives just wishing things were different and the other person would make all the changes.

It can be different though! God does have a plan for how our family life should be, and of how we should treat each other. Our part is to find out what His plan and instructions are and follow them to the best of our ability. We are in this thing together, hopefully for the long haul. There is a way to live in peace, harmony, and unity! There is a way to enjoy our family and loved ones to the fullest extent. It is GOD's way and if we will implement His plan, it WILL be blessed.

God's Cake

Sometimes we wonder, why certain difficult things happen in our life.
Here is a wonderful way to look at it!
A daughter is telling her mother how everything is going wrong:
She's failing algebra.
Her boyfriend broke up with her.
AND her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter
if she would like a snack, and the daughter says,
"Absolutely, Mom, I love your cake."
"Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers.
"Yuck," says her daughter.
"How about a couple raw eggs?"
"Gross, Mom!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"
"Mom, those are all yucky!"

To which the mother replies:
"Yes, all those things seem bad by themselves.
But when they are put together in the right way,
they make a wonderfully delicious cake.

God works much in the same way.
Even when we are going through yucky, difficult times,
God can take all these things and turn them out for our good!
We just have to trust Him and, eventually,
He can make something wonderful out of us!

The Word of God tells us that we are to train our children up in the way they should go. One of the most important things we can all do for our children & family is to give them continual encouragement and support through verbal affirmation. That will build a confidence in them that will become a great asset in their life. Every child and adult needs to feel that they are important.

I recently read a story telling about the world famous boxer, Muhammad Ali. His renowned trainer, Angelo Dundee, at every boxing match, would write a number on a small piece of paper and place it inside Ali's glove. The number was the round that Dundee was predicting Ali would knock out his opponent. He had such confidence that Ali would win that he would also predict when he would win. Ali of course knew of his trainers great confidence in him. Even though it was just a little piece of paper, it was actually much more than that. When we verbally affirm our confidence in our loved ones it in turn builds a great confidence in them.

We all know that Ali did not lack when it came to confidence in his own ability. He made that very plain in the intimidating antics he would recite to his opponents. Ali surely had others encouraging him, but it is when those closest to us do it that affects us the most. I know that when my husband ministers, everyone in the church may tell him it was a great sermon, but he still wants to know what I thought about it, and I am the same way with him.

As I mentioned earlier, this is something everyone of us has the ability to do. We can uplift and encourage our loved ones. Don't worry about “giving them the big head”, because believe me, their will be plenty of people out in the world telling them what they can't do!

Family Matters Article

The world may not care a whole lot today about the marriage relationship, but according to the Word of God, He does! Marriage was His idea in the first place. He created male and female to be together in the garden of Eden. In Genesis 2:18, He even said it was not good for man to be alone. He intended for us to be there for each other through whatever life brings our way.

We should see ourselves as a team, working together against all odds. We are to “complete” each other, not “compete” against each other. Many couples I know are so busy trying to get everything they can out of the other person, and never consider that they may need to be giving something in order to complete their spouse. It really doesn't matter who spends the most time doing things for the kids, it's all about working together with the same, common goal. Many times instead of working together to see what we want accomplished, we waste our time pushing against each other.

God intends for us to be a strong unit, as husband and wife. Ready to stand against the enemy, and stand behind each other. We need to show our children that we are on the same page and let them know they cannot put one against the other.
God even sees us as one flesh! I wonder what kind of relationships we could all have if we always treated the other person in the same way that we want to be treated? Huuum! Food for thought!

Happy Mother's Day!!

I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to all of the ladies today! Being a mother is one of the hardest jobs in the world. That is what I wanted from the time I was a little girl, to be a mommy. I have such a great example in my very own mother. I have always known that my brother and I were her priority in life, no matter what else was going on with her. Even being grown and on our own, we still know that she would do anything she possibly could for us that we needed.

Let me say, there is not a mother alive that has not made mistakes, we all have. But, I believe our children are a gift from God and we should place our mothering job at a high priority. God expects us to do everything in our power to love & nuture our children to adulthood. He also expects us to teach them to love, serve, and trust Him. It is our responsibility to train them so that they know they can call on God in every situation they have to face in life. As our children get older, we are not always able to fix their problems, but if we have done our job, they will know to call on our God who can!

Let me give a special Happy Mother’s day to my mom, Billie Hearn, my mother-in-law, Madeline Lane & my two daughters, who have made wonderful mothers themselves, Amy Gaskins and Stacy Morris. I love you all!

Yesterday was my final of 32 radiation treatments!!! Here are pics of me ringing the bell!

I am so grateful for God & His Word, for my loving family & friends who have prayed for me & supported me through this 10 month ordeal.
I am ready to get on with my life and am very excited about the future! I believe God has great things in store & am expecting a fresh, new anointing to minister to others.

Forgiveness is a gift.....

Sometimes in life we are put into situations and circumstances not because of decisions or choices that we have made, but because of things that others have done to us.

Recently, in studying the story of Joseph being thrown into the pit by his brothers, I saw something about the story that I had never seen before. In Gen.37:2, the scripture tells us about the act, then in the very next verse it says, they, (the brothers) sat down and ate a meal ! Can you imagine? After throwing their own brother in a pit, they go on about their lives, eating a meal and acting as if nothing is wrong!

It may be that way in your life. Someone you loved and trusted has hurt you greatly and now they just go on with their life as though nothing has happened.

As I continued to read about Joseph, I found that He actually ended up having a very blessed life. In fact in Gen. 39:2 It says, “The Lord was with Joseph and he was a successful man.” What happened? Well the truth is that it really didn’t matter what his brothers did after this horrific act upon Joseph. The only thing that mattered was what Joseph himself did.

I believe that Joseph made a choice to move on from the hurts placed upon him. Everything in his life was not perfect from that point , but he continued to trust God. I believe he even made the choice to forgive those who had wronged him. And because of that, he became a very blessed man.

I read once that “Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.” It may be time to get past the ways you have been hurt and move on to a blessed future. Forgiveness could be the beginning of that future!
